When I was young, life was simple — and the world I knew was small, but full of connection. I grew up in a village where no one was a stranger. If someone laughed, everyone heard it. If someone struggled, everyone felt it.

There was a tree — tall, wide, and older than all of us. It was our meeting place. Our court, our café, our classroom. Under its shade we debated, gossiped, solved problems, and sometimes forgot them. Children played while the elders shared stories that shaped who we became.

This painting is a memory of belonging — a time when community was not something we planned, but something we lived. Before busy streets, before distance, before everyone became islands… there was that tree, and the comfort of knowing we were part of something bigger than ourselves.

The world has changed.
But that memory still feels like home.
